DOCE AÑOS DESPUÉS – QUE FUE DEL ENSANCHE DE PORTMAN
El día 10 de mayo de 2015 fui a ver a mi gran amigo Juan Miguel Albaladejo competir en el triatlon Bahía de Portman. Hacia ya mas de 10 años que no volvía a visitar el núcleo urbano de Portman, pedanía del municipio de la Unión. Aquí fue donde realice mi primer proyecto de urbanismo íntegro, (aunque no lo firme yo, porque entre otras cosas, por aquella fecha todavía no tenía terminado el proyecto final de carrera).
El proyecto consistía en el desarrollo de un plan parcial delimitado como ensanche del núcleo urbano del pueblo de Portman por las normas subsidiarias del municipio de la Unión, aunque el proyecto se ajustó a las dotaciones que venían delimitadas por las normas subsidiarias y no por las exigidas por LSRM (Ley del Suelo de la Región de Murcia), increíble pero cierto. La intención de los promotores era realizar una promoción de 500 viviendas dirigidas para extranjeros, viviendas en dos alturas pero colmatando bastante las manzanas finales que resultaban del desarrollo del plan parcial. Una promoción mas entre todas aquellas que se han realizado en la costa española. Pero he de decir que las viviendas que proyectaba el arquitecto que trabajaba para la promotora no eran en absoluto una mala solución estética y constructiva. Proyectaba en blanco viviendas de tipología mediterránea con mallorquinas de madera en las ventanas, resolviendo las construcciones con buenos detalles constructivos. La pena era que la edificabilidad del plan parcial era muy alta, donde solo se podían proyectar edificaciones de dos alturas como en el resto del pueblo, y obligaba al arquitecto que proyectará la edificación a colmatar mucho la manzana lo que podía llevar a una solución muy saturada y con bajo valor estético, si se consumía toda la edificabilidad.
Cual fue mi sorpresa al visitar el lugar, de que toda esa urbanización de ensueño se quedo en nada, como tantas otras promociones y proyectos a lo largo de la geografía española, era una urbanización fantasma. La urbanización quedo a medio, por lo que solo se pueden ver las trazas de las calles sin asfaltar, muchas de ellas llenas de matojos, solo los los bloques de hormigón que marcan las aceras y el árido permiten vislumbrar que allí se proyectarón una calle. La calles totalmente cortadas por vallas metálicas con alguna traza de la red de alcantarillado. Todo era como en esos programas que relatan el resultado de la crisis económica y el pinchazo de la burbuja inmobiliaria. De todo aquello que proyecte solamente la entrada al pueblo ha sobrevivido con una nueva rotonda y una zona pavimentada con aparcamientos y aceras. Espero que hayamos aprendido de todo ello y que esto nos ayude a ser mejores arquitectos.

Ein brief für einen guten Architekten
Sehr geehrter Herr Sánchez Morales,
Hiermit möchte ich Ihnen mitteilen, dass ich viele Artikeln mit großem Interesse gelesen habe, die Sie über Ihre Architekturprojekte geschrieben haben. Obwohl ich ein Anhänger von Ihrer Arbeit in der Architektur bin, wäre ich Ihnen sehr dankbar, wenn Sie eine Kritik von mir über Ihre letzten Konferenz von Montag, dem16 März 2015 mit dem Namen : “ Karneval von architektonischen Erfahrungen in der Industrialisierung und in der Wiederaufbereitung” in der Woche von der Qualität von dem Gebäudebau in der Architektenkammer bekommen könnte. Ich bin der Ansicht, dass diese Konferenzen nur für wenige Architekten und Architekturstudenten sind. Deshalb vertrete ich den Standpunkt, dass auf der einen Seite die Konferenz ein Ort der Begegnung und Diskussion der Arkitekten war, dass auf der anderen Seite die konferenz nur für eine kleine Gruppe von Architekten und Studenten mit der gleichen Denkschule war.
Ich weiß, dass es viele verschiedene Strömungen des Denkens in der Architektur gibt. Obwohl die Philosophie von der Architektur wichtig ist, gibt es einen fundamentalen Unterschied zwischen Strömungen des Denkens und was die Architekten als Kollektiv brauchen. Heutzutage fühle ich mich wie Unversorgt von der Architektenkammer, weil sie nur für eine kleine Gruppe von Architekten arbeitet, die mit der Universität und mit öffentlichen Einrichtungen Beziehungen haben. Es ist eine Schande, dass wir es so weit haben kommen lassen, wenn wir uns gegenseitig helfen müssten. Deswegen halte ich es für wichtig, das Problem die Wirkung der Wirtschaftskrise in unserer Disziplin zusammen anzusprechen. Das Thema ist nicht aktuell, dass bedauerlicherweise die spanischen Architekten im allgemeinen in einer schlechten Situation sind. Außerdem bin ich der Überzeugung, dass die Architektenkammer während der letzten fünf Jahre ein internationales Netzwerk mit anderen Architektenkammern und mit anderen spanischen Architekten auf der ganzen Wellt kontaktiert, um Arbeit für Architekten zu suchen, wären wir einfacher mit besseren Bedingungen zu emigrieren. Da es nicht dasselbe ist, dass ein Verein einen darstellt oder ob du allein darstellst. Zusammenfassend lässt sich sagen, dass es eine gute Idee ist, ein internationales Wissens- und Berufsnetwerk mit spanischen Architekten auf den ganzen Welt zu erstellen.

I have been waiting for a long time to write about this topic: the current situation of architects in Spain. I´d rather not say this, but it is really outrageous, and particularly that of the professional associations of architects called in Spanish “ Colegios profesionales de arquitectos”. I wish I had written this long before, when I had the chance, because I am not used to complaining and to criticizing the situation of our professional careers as architects.
The writer of the article explained to us that architects in Spain are going through a very bad situation after the collapse of the speculative building bubble and that situation has not changed from 2012 to nowadays. He stated that the architects are trying to adapt their situation to the real needs but he didn´t suggest to us what we should do and particularly what the professional associations of architects should do and what they are doing; it leaves me cold. We are really in an emergency situation with more than 50% of unemployment, and the people who are working in general are in a very bad situation. Therefore we can´t make up our mind whether to fight again this situation, alone or as a group. I think that the professional associations should have been converted in international employment agencies a while back and should look for architect jobs around the world, make contacts with another professional associations, export knowledge and create an international Spanish architect network with the new social media.
Nowadays it is a pity that a generation of architects has been lost and it´s time to emigrate for them if they want to work as architects; but it is not the same to look for a job alone as when an institution is helping you to find the best place for you with the international connections between professional associations. Furthermore, I don´t understand the actual policy of the professional associations, where only a few architects with a name are giving talks about the philosophy of architecture. Talks where only a few people go when the number of architects in the professional association of architects of Murcia is around three thousand. Besides, I think that the way to learn is working in the problems that a city or a building has, because each situation has its own needs and way to undertake its problems. I think that an architect can learn to put into practice his knowledge by working in the needs of a city of India, working in the open spaces of Hong Kong, interior spaces in a single family house in Dubai or creating a new building in Wellington, New Zealand. We need an international view of the problems of urban design, building construction and civil engineering, and working each one depending of his needs.
